US President Donald Trump vowed Monday that strikes on Yemen's Huthis will continue until they are no longer a threat to shipping, warning the rebels and their Iranian backers of "real pain" to come. Trump's threat on the Truth Social network comes as his administration battles a scandal over a chat between senior US officials on the Yemen strikes that was accidentally leaked to a journalist. It also comes amid a sharpening of Trump's rhetoric towards Tehran, with the president threatening that "there will be bombing" if Iran does not reach a deal on its nuclear program. "The choice for the Huthis is clear: Stop shooting at US ships, and we will stop shooting at you. Otherwise, we have only just begun, and the real pain is yet to come, for both the Huthis and their sponsors in Iran," said Trump. Trump added that the Huthis had been "decimated" by "relentless" strikes since March 15, saying that US forces "hit them e...

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore thanked US President Donald Trump and SpaceX owner Elon Musk for their help in bringing them back from the International Space Station (ISS), where they stayed on for nine months after their Boeing Starliner spacecraft malfunctioned, turning a mission that was supposed to be short into a long one. The two astronauts in an interview to Fox News said space flight is hard, and using new technology to try to further and better themselves is harder. To a question on whether Boeing "screwed this up", Mr Wilmore said he does not want to point fingers at anyone. "... In certain respects, we were stuck. In certain respects, maybe we were stranded. But based on how they were couching this, that we were left and forgotten and all that, we were nowhere near any of that at all. So stuck, okay, we didn't get to come home the way we planned. So in one definition, we're stuck. But in the big scheme of things, we weren't st...

The death count from a huge earthquake that hit Myanmar and Thailand passed 1,600 on Saturday, as rescuers dug through the rubble of collapsed buildings in a desperate search for survivors. The shallow 7.7-magnitude quake struck northwest of the city of Sagaing in central Myanmar early Friday afternoon, followed minutes later by a 6.7-magnitude aftershock. The quake destroyed buildings, downed bridges, and buckled roads across swathes of Myanmar, with massive destruction seen in Mandalay, the country's second biggest city and home to more than 1.7 million people. "We need aid," said Thar Aye, 68, a Mandalay resident. "We don't have enough of anything." At least 1,644 people were killed and more than 3,400 injured in Myanmar, with at least 139 more missing, the junta said in a statement. Around 10 more deaths have been confirmed in Bangkok. The Arctic is heating up, not just in terms of Climate Change, but also in terms of geopolitics. With US President Donald Trump pressing to annex Greenland and Canada, Russia isn't to be left behind. President Putin today visited Murmansk - the largest city north of the Arctic circle where he pledged to "strengthen Russia's global leadership in the Arctic". The Russian President however, did not make any territorial claims, nor spoke of expansionism. What came as a surprise though, was President Putin's no-objection to President Trump's plan to annex Greenland and make it a US territory. Turkey on Thursday stepped up a crackdown on media coverage of mass protests since the arrest of Istanbul's popular mayor, deporting a BBC journalist and imposing a 10-day broadcast ban on an opposition TV channel. The moves came after police detained 11 Turkish journalists, including an AFP photographer, who were covering the worst street protests to hit Turkey since 2013. The protests erupted on March 19 after the arrest and subsequent jailing of Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's biggest political rival. Defying a protest ban, vast crowds have hit the streets daily, with the nightly rallies often descending into running battles with riot police, whose crackdowns have drawn international condemnation. Earlier on Thursday, Turkey deported a BBC journalist covering the protests on grounds he posed "a threat to public order", the British broadcaster said. Artificial intelligence can help detect foetal abnormalities from pregnancy scans nearly twice as quickly but with the same accuracy, according to the results of a UK trial published Thursday. The trial, which included 78 pregnant women and 58 sonographers, focused on looking for heart problems in the 20-week scans, but researchers said the AI could look for any abnormality. It was also more reliable and 42 percent quicker than humans when it came to taking foetal measurements, with sonographers no longer needing to pause, measure and save images during the scan. "Our research has shown that AI-assisted scans are accurate, reliable and more efficient," said lead author Thomas Day. "We hope that using AI in these scans will free up precious time for sonographers to focus on patient care, making the experience more comfortable and reassuring for parents," he added. The trial, published in the journal NEJM AI, was led by King's College London and Guy's and...

US President Donald Trump will announce tariffs on auto imports to the country Wednesday, the White House said in a move set to fuel tensions with trading partners ahead of further promised levies next week. Since returning to the presidency in January, Trump has already imposed tariffs on major US trading partners Canada, Mexico and China -- but he previously offered automakers temporary reprieve from the levies affecting North America. He has also slapped 25 percent duties on steel and aluminum imports, weighing on manufacturers. On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told a briefing that Trump will hold a press conference at 4:00 pm (2000 GMT) "to announce tariffs on the auto industry." Additional duties would mark a further blow to businesses reeling from policy uncertainty and earlier waves of levies, which economists warned could add to producers' costs. These costs could eventually be passed on to consumers, if companies are unable to absor...
